Bewitching Tones

“Bewitching Tones,” the latest release by electronic musician Douibyorthst, is an album of fantastical, adventurous dance music intended to be at home in both a party setting or in the background of an adventure of your own making. Set about on your own groove quest as the hauntingly exciting series of songs wash over you and spark your imagination. Inspired by fantasy settings and meant to reside within them, this album will transport you between a variety of genres such as House, Acid House, Synthwave, Ambient, Downtempo, Electro, Techno, and Industrial music. All the songs blend together seamlessly to form a 24 track, 82 minute experience that evolves and changes gradually and is meant to be enjoyed in its totality. The nearly wordless story contained within the songs tells the tale of adventurous bards on a quest against an evil technomancer, which can be summarized in the following blurb from the back cover of the module for “Bewitching Tones.”

In the dank, cobweb filled library in the shadowy basement of the castle, buried amidst endless stacks of books and piles of papers, rests a letter from a wizard. Written on dusty, bloodstained parchment it reads: “I am hereby formally requesting that A DYNAMIC ADVENTURING PARTY be assembled to investigate the ARCANE SIGNAL FLOW emanating from beneath the ground of the castle graveyard. I fear that SPECTRAL FREQUENCIES might emerge, animating the corpses of the dead, which I have forseen whilst PONDERING MY OSCILLOSCOPE. I have deduced this to be the work of the technomancer. “The adventuring party must trek to the frostbitten northern edge of this world in search of the mystical AURAL AURORA, a truly transcendent experience to behold. And should the forces of evil be gathering their strength, we must get word to THE PRISMATIC PALACE who can trigger a TEMPORAL SHIFT, giving us the necessary time to begin charting a course through the celestial waters by SAILING ON ASTRAL WAVEFORMS. There among the starry maelstrom, one might venture a guess that ANY PORT IN THE TRANSIENT STORM would be a welcome sight. Concurrently from my tower I shall aid the adventurers when I PUT ON MY ROBE AND WIZARD HAT and participate in the dark pact known as the DRUIDS’ DANCE. “At the auspicious moment, our heroes should begin DESCENDING TOWARD THE GOBLIN KINGDOM. Beyond the underground rave known as GOBLIN MODE, deep within their realm lies a relic of great PHANTOM POWER that can finally set right this world. This is THE MAGE’S MECHANISM and with it in hand, our heroes will gain the talent to ascend to the heavens and ATTACK AND DETHRONE GOD. From this elevated position it is rumored that THE DIVINE SYNTH PATCH can ultimately be heard. This sonic force will be necessary to defend against the technomancer’s SIEGE OF THE HALLOWED HALL. “But be wary of an ALIGNMENT INVERSION from within your ranks. And do not succumb or SURRENDER TO THE KNIGHT. At the 11th hour the technomancer himself will emerge and bring down the house when he plays THE TECHNOMANCER’S BLACK KEY. But will it result in a TOTAL PARTY KILL? Can we prevent this world from falling into the ruin of THE CHAOS DIMENSION? Only your actions can see this adventure through. Make haste!
